Now Toronto Talks To Aluna Theatre's Trevor Schwellnus

Jon Kaplan at Now Toronto talks to Trevor Schwellnus of Aluna Theatre about their work: WHAT I LEARNED FROM A DECADE OF FEAR, currently playing at pPanamerican ROUTES | RUTAS Panamericanas: an International Festival of Performing Arts and will come to La MaMa's First Floor Theater on March 20 - 23, 2014.
“We’re experimenting with how an open room can appear to be contained, even made to look like a prison, through the use of a camera. That’s become a subtext in the show: how a person’s viewpoint is a perspective but also a cage that defines how you look at the world.”

Coming Soon: WHAT I LEARNED FROM A DACADE OF FEAR

Toronto based, Aluna Theatre somes to The Frist Floor Theater on March 20th with WHAT I LEARNED FROM A DACADE OF FEAR.

Exploring how to own a decade of repression, war, and security paranoia, WHAT I LEARNED FROM A DACADE OF FEAR asks: Could it be incriminating, to have an average life? What if we believe it, when we are told, “this was done for us?”

Using security cameras and confined spaces as a medium of communication, Aluna Theatre's core team of Beatriz Pizano, Trevor Schwellnus, and Lyon Smith, with choreographer Ame Henderson, is building a set of situations to explore our contradictory need to change the world for the sake of preserving it.
