The playwright's elderly, demented mother says he’s the bastard child of the family pediatrician. The surreal, seemingly scripted disclosure instantly rewrites his devoutly Christian, Southern upbringing. The tragicomedy incorporates Arthur Miller’s All My Sons and other family plays, such as Hamlet, Oedipus, Elektra, Well, and The Seagull.

Distant Observer: Tokyo/New York Correspondence is a collaboration between Japanese playwright/director Takeshi Kawamura and American playwright/director John Jesurun. The project is conceived as a play written and directed in collaborative partnership by both artists. Written in corresponding chapters by each playwright, it combines two established artists of the same generation, both with distinct voices and significant work, in a deep creative conversation across cultures.

Hi-Fi | Wi-Fi | Sci-Fi restages five original plays by one of La MaMa's first playwrights, not as vintage nostalgia, but as startingly contemporary works far ahead of their time! In the 1960s and 1970s, playwright Robert Patrick led an underground theatre movement that questioned the future through a series of quirky, minimalist science fiction plays.
