Here is a first look at the world premiere of Object Collection's cheap&easy October, coming to The Club @ La MaMa: October 9 - 18, 2015.



One hundred years after a revolution, Object Collection summons the dead. Phantom agitators and zombie visionaries produce a séance, a death march, a psychic wailing. cheap&easy OCTOBER is a live shredding of art world criticism, an original chamber opera about the revolutionary spirit and the power of the written word.

The opera unwinds the relationship between revolutionary politics, experimental art, and vanguard criticism through the psychic channeling of three consecutive events: the Russian Revolution (1917), Sergei Eisenstein's film October: Ten Days that Shook the World (1928), and the founding of the art journal "October" (1976).

Coffeehouse Chronicles #128: Dario D'Ambrosi & Teatro Patologico

A new season of Coffeehouse Chronicles begins on Saturday, October 17th examining Dario D'Ambrosi & Teatro Patologico in celebration of their 35th Anniversary at La MaMa and their groudbraking production of MEDEA, which will be playing at The Ellen Stewart Theatre from October 8 - 18, 2015.

Teatro Patologico was founded by Dario D'Ambrosi, one of Italy's most distinguished theater artists, who has made a career of productions about people with psychiatric disabilities, devising productions that portray their unique perspective on life. His stunning and visceral version of Euripides' tragedy debuted at La MaMa in 2011.  In 2012, it was presented at Wilton's Music Hall in London and was awarded the Wilton Prize as Best Show of the Season.  It has also been awarded the "Lupa Capitolina" Award in Rome, a Mayoral honour.

Party Out Of Bounds: Nightlife As Activism Since 1980, curated by Emily Colucci and Osman Can Yerebakan for Visual AIDS, features artwork by Nayland Blake, Elegance Bratton, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Luis Carle, Clit Club Archive/Julie Tolentino, Chloe Dzubilo, Scott Ewalt, Robert Getso, Keith Haring, Aldo Hernandez Archive, Peter Hujar, Kia Labeija, Marc Lida, Caldwell Linker, Lovett/Codagnone, Charles Lum, Joseph Modica, Hunter Reynolds, Eric Rhein, John Sex, Linda Simpson, Chad States, Nelson Sullivan, Wu Tsang & RJ Messineo, Conrad Ventur, John Walter, John Waters, Jessica Whitbread, and David Wojnarowicz.

Linda Simpson: Drag Explosion is a photographic time capsule, spanning the late 1980s to the mid ’90s, of New York City’s drag-queen subculture. All of the photos were shot by longtime drag personality Linda Simpson, back when film ruled and it was the exception to hobnob with a camera.

Saturday, October 10; 4:00pm-5:00pm

Party Out Of Bounds: Curator Talk & Closing Event exhibition co-curators Emily Colucci and Osman Can Yerebakan will lead a guided tour and discussion of the exhibition, discussing the intersection of the ongoing HIV/AIDS crisis and nightlife from the 1980s to the present.
