LOVO at the 2024 La MaMa Puppet Festival

Spain's Teatro Lafauna brought their puppet-theatre work LOVO to The Downstais at La MaMa for the 2024 La MaMa Puppet Festival from October 25-27, 2024.

With direction by Carlos Cazalilla and performers/puppeteers: Vera González, Esther D'Andrea, and Carlos Cazalilla, LOVO dealt with nature, extinction and love.  The production was beautifully realized at La MaMa.

THE MARRIAGE goes to Europe

 

The company of THE MARRIAGE at the 16th International Gombrowicz Festival


Immediately after its run at La MaMa, Zishan Ugurlu's production of Witold Gombrowicz's THE MARRIAGE was performed at the 16th International Gombrowicz Festival, where it won multiple awards: Zishan Ugurlu was named Best Director, Alex Scoloveno took home the Best Actor award. Celeste Ciulla and Annie Hägg shared the Best Acting Distinctions Award. And Maya Smolarski was crowned the Best Kid at the festival! Congratulations to all involved in this project.

THE MARRIAGE was produced by La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club in association with the 
Polish Cultural Institute New York.  It ran from September 26 – October 6, 2024 in The Downstairs Theatre at La MaMa.

La MaMa Alum Marco Calvani Makes His Feature Film Debut With HIGH TIDE!




  


La MaMa Alumnus, Marco Calvani, made is feature film writing and directorial debut with the acclaimed film, High Tide.  The film was made a Critics' Pick by The New York Times.

Marco was a writer and directer of AdA: Author directing Author along with Neil LaBute (in 2014) and again with LaBute and Marta Buchaca (in 2017) at La MaMa.

High Tide is written and directed by Marco Calvani and stars Marco Pigossi, James Bland, Marisa Tomei, Bill Irwin.
