“I live 2 blocks from the East River. My studio at The Brooklyn Navy Yard has a fine view
of the traffic on the river. This work was also created on the New Jersey coast over
several summers. I am never far from the sea or the river and Hurricane Sandy was a
reminder of that. These communities of which I am a part have witnessed the
destructive force of rising water. Our world struggles with water issues daily; access to
water as a human right, fracking, plastic in our seas, and the taxing of water. On the
other hand, water is a source of sustenance, a sacred source of joy! ”
